Chris Green, Green Party candidate for Crosland Moor and Netherton, is concerned about the impact on the ward of new housing for example in Netherton and the proposed building of nearly 800 homes in Crosland Hill.
He said: “People are worried about increased pressures from new housing – on traffic, schools and services.
“I want to see our neighbourhoods made safer. Let’s unlock the ideas people have about how to improve road safety. The dangers of speeding traffic, inconsiderate parking and poor air quality are increasingly worrying people. We can make it safer for children and students to walk and cycle.”
Chris in favour of low cost traffic calming (as Green councillors have installed in Newsome ward), better footpaths and cycle paths. He says they all help to make for safer, more liveable streets. He supports the extension of the Meltham Greenway beyond Netherton to Lockwood to encourage cycling and walking.
