Green Party candidates are contesting all 23 wards in Kirklees. Including two by-elections, there are 25 candidates – 9 women and 14 men.
Andrew Cooper is defending his seat in Newsome he first won twenty -two years ago. He is also the Green Party candidate for West Yorkshire Mayor.
David Knight is candidate in Kirkburton where he has lived for over 25 years and is already a parish councillor. David is a keen environmentalist actively involved local in conservation projects. The Greens are mounting a strong challenge in Kirkburton Ward.
In Birstall and Birkenshaw, two candidates are standing to fill two vacancies – Ty Akram who lives locally and fought Batley & Spen for the Green Party in the general election and Ross Peltier, who is a Rugby League international representing Jamaica.
