Kirklees Green Party

Adrian Cruden - Candidate - Dewsbury

Adrian Cruden

I've lived in Dewsbury with my wife Nikki for 15 years and work in the not-for-profit sector. As a Green, I 've been busy over the years campaigning to save our local greenbelt in Thornhill Lees, Chidswell and Scissett as well as to protect services at Dewsbury hospital. For four years I was a councillor for Grange Moor on the Green-led Kirkburton Parish Council and want similar town councils for other parts of the constituency.

In 2015, Greens will campaign for a fairer society, including lasting jobs and a living wage for all. We want better train and bus links and renationalising the railways is vital to put people before profit. The same applies to keeping the NHS public and saving our local health services. Greens want more investment in local economies including small businesses, co-operatives and community enterprises. We will push for breaking up Kirklees into smaller councils with a real local say. Schools should be kept public, but again with full community involvement.

I am involved in politics to seek a fairer, happier world for all and to protect it for future generations. Outside of the party, I've been involved in work on housing, legal aid and fair trade. I write a regular blog, Viridis Lumen, on things which interest and concern me. Other times, I enjoy hillwalking, writing, history - and spending time with family and friends, who are always the best parts of my life.
