Green Party candidates are contesting 21 wards in Kirklees. Of the 21 candidates, 8 are women. Karen Allison is defending her seat in Newsome ward. Kirkburton parish councillor, Richard Burton, is the Green’s candidate in Kirkburton ward. In Greenhead ward, Heather Peacock, a leading campaigner with Save The Trees Kirklees, is the party’s candidate.

Greens in Bradford and Kirklees are supporting campaigners, Save Our Spen, in fighting plans for a huge new warehouse in Kirklees close to a busy junction on M62. Sited near junction 26 (Chain Bar), it is expected to provide a massive warehouse for Amazon with movements 24 hours a day.
